Thyrinteina arnobia

TetraDuo-Vit® is a biological control agent belonging to the Eulophidae family, a gregarious parasitoid used in the control of caterpillars and pupae of agricultural pests. Biological control should begin as soon as pest insects appear in the larval or pupal stages.

TetraDuo-Vit® can be applied to all crops where the biological targets occur, using an inundative release strategy.

Mode of action

Female Tetraduo-Vit® (Tetrastichus howardi) wasps locate caterpillars and pupae of the sugarcane borer and deposit their eggs inside these hosts. As the parasitoid develops within the larvae and pupae, the host darkens, and instead of moths, new parasitoids emerge.

Application

Application of the biological control agent is safe and innovative, performed via drone.

Tetraduo-Vit® releases should occur upon detection of sugarcane borer presence in the field. The recommended release rate is 6,000 individuals per hectare, with a flight-radius spacing of 50 meters. Releases may be carried out throughout the day, as long as weather conditions are favorable.

Always ensure proper calibration of the drone dispenser to guarantee accurate dosage and effective control.

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to your questions about the use and benefits of our products.

What is Tetraduo-Vit® and what is its function in the field?

Tetraduo-Vit® is a biological control agent composed of Tetrastichus howardi, a parasitoid micro-wasp that acts in the control of caterpillars and pupae of agricultural pests. Its natural action helps reduce infestation levels.

What does “dual aptitude” mean in Tetraduo-Vit®?

“Dual aptitude” means that the parasitoid acts on two stages of the pest: the larva and the pupa. This broadens the scope of control, as Tetrastichus howardi can interrupt the development cycle of the sugarcane borer at different stages, ensuring prolonged protection of the sugarcane field.

Is Tetraduo-Vit® safe for the environment and the operator?

Yes. As a biological product, Tetraduo-Vit® is non-toxic, residue-free and classified as low environmental hazard (Class IV), making it safe for the applicator and the ecosystem.

What are the main benefits for the producer?

With Tetraduo-Vit®, producers achieve efficient and long-lasting control of target pests, reduced use of highly toxic pesticides, compatibility with sustainable practices, and access to an exclusive technology in the country, produced with Vittia’s quality and large-scale capability.
