Guardium WP is a biological insecticide that combines two complementary entomopathogenic fungi, Beauveria bassiana IBCB66 and Metarhizium anisopliae IBCB 425, providing greater robustness, efficacy, and stability in pest control. It contains Vit Core™ technology, which adds formulation advantages such as UV protection, helping maintain the viability of the biological agents and ensuring consistent field performance.

The combination of these microorganisms, together with the formulation technology, provides residual activity and a broad spectrum of action, while contributing to reducing the risk of resistance.

Guardium WP can be applied to all crops where the biological target pests occur.

Mode of action

Guardium WP acts by contact and may also act through ingestion or via the insect’s respiratory system, through the spiracles.

After application, the conidia adhere to the insect’s cuticle, initiating the germination and penetration process, which occurs through mechanical and enzymatic action. The fungus then colonizes the host’s internal tissues, consuming nutrients and releasing toxic metabolites.

As a result of this process, the insect dies due to physiological exhaustion. Complete colonization occurs, on average, within up to 72 hours after infection, and may vary depending on environmental conditions.

Application

Guardium WP must be applied by agricultural spraying using:

Ground Application:

Application should be carried out using a backpack sprayer, tractor-mounted boom sprayer, or airblast sprayer, calibrated to operate with constant pressure and spray volume. Equipment should be fitted with spray nozzles that reduce drift losses and promote uniform coverage, according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Apply a spray volume of 80 to 200 L/ha.

Aerial Application:

For foliar applications, use an agricultural aircraft equipped with spray nozzles or rotary atomizers that provide uniform coverage, according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Apply a spray volume of 30 to 60 L/ha.

Drone Application:

For foliar applications, use agricultural spraying drones equipped with spray nozzles or rotary atomizers that provide uniform coverage, according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Apply a spray volume of at least 20 L/ha.

The addition of the adjuvant Naft® is recommended at a rate of 50 mL per 100 L of water.

Follow the application technology recommendations provided by the responsible agronomist.

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers to help you better understand the use and benefits of our products.

Why is Guardium WP considered a dual-action technology?

Guardium WP is a combination of two highly virulent entomopathogenic fungi with complementary infection mechanisms. In addition, it features Vit Core™ technology, a highly advanced formulation that provides greater virulence in the field.

Why is protection against UV radiation important?

Guardium WP’s formulation protects spores from UV radiation, keeping the fungi viable for a longer period. This results in a greater residual effect and increased efficiency of biological control, especially against remaining insects in the area.
